In the scope of the EU Framework Programme 7 project COSIVU, Elaphe’s team has developed powerful direct drive motors, intended for demanding applications. A real life experience is better than anything, so we used two of them in a family VW Sharan van, in the process converting it into a seat gripping electric sports van. Elaphe Directus boasts dual direct drive electric motors, each capable of delivering 1000 Nm on the rear wheels working alone or together with the original ICE engine. In the scope of the FP7 COSIVU project, Elaphe directus will be used as a cutting edge technology demonstration platform for a new type of power electronics based on SiC technology and advanced condition monitoring system to extend the service life of electric powertrain and decrease maintenance costs.<\/p>\n
