In-wheel motorji (IWM) so postali zrela tehnologija, ki je zelo primerna za nova električna vozila (EV) osredotočena na uporabnika. IWM-je je mogoče integrirati v večnamenske in nadzorovane module, ki jih sestavljajo električni pogonski sklop, torna zavora ter vzmetenje/krmiljenje.
Slovenski avtomobilski dobavitelji se zavedajo, da morajo s hitro elektrifikacijo mobilnosti, nujno postaviti močne temelje za razvoj novih izdelkov in tehnologij, ki bodo na trgu po letu 2027. V ta namen so ustanovili konzorcij osmih podjetij in razvojnega centra, ki bo z investicijo i-Motion do konca julija 2025 izvajal industrijske raziskave elektromotorskih sistemov prihodnosti.

HighScape je evropski projekt, ki je fokusiran na razvoj močnostne elektronike in nadzornih sistemov za električna vozila, s poudarkom na visoko učinkovitost, visoko gostoto moči, stroškovno učinkovitost, prilagodljivost in modularnost. Partnerji projekta bodo raziskali izvedljivost družine visoko učinkovitih komponent in sistemov za močnostno elektroniko, vključno z integriranimi pretvorniki, polnilniki na vozilu, pretvorniki DC/DC in električnimi pogoni za pomožne naprave in aktuatorje. Predlagane rešitve bodo preizkušene na merilnih postajah in na dveh različno velikih prototipih vozilih na električni pogon..

Projekt HiEFFICIENT je fokusiran na visoko učinkovite in zanesljive električni pogone, temelječe na modularnih, inteligentnih in visoko integriranih modulih močnostne elektronike. V okviru projekta bodo partnerji razvijali naslednjo generacijo polprevodnikov s širokim pasovnim razmikom (WBG) na področju pametne mobilnosti. S spodbujanjem razvoj na področju avtomobilskih aplikacij, so si partnerji projekta HiEFFICIENT zastavili ambiciozne cilje, to so: 1.) Zmanjšanje volumna za 40% z integracijo na vseh ravneh (komponentni, podsistemski in sistemski nivo), 2.) Povečanje učinkovitosti preko 98% z zmanjšanjem izgub do 50%, 3.) Povečanje zanesljivosti močnostnih elektronskih sistemov za izboljšanje življenjske dobe do 20%.
